Supercomputers\" class=\"wp-image-27059\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A supercomputer is known for its extreme capabilities and performance for solving complex data-driven tasks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are <strong>made to carry out very complicated computations at a very fast speed due to the property of parallel processing<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supercomputers are <strong>able to compute billions of instructions per second and they can calculate very large volumes of data<\/strong> at a go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are <strong>mostly applied in scientific and research areas which demand enormous computing power<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>most powerful and huge computers are Supercomputers<\/strong>. It includes large <strong>installations&nbsp; of 10, 100, 1000, or more computers<\/strong> to function effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supercomputer applications are in <strong>weather forecasting, climate modeling, nuclear studies, <\/strong>space research, molecular research, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.21kschool.com\/eg\/blog\/difference-between-ai-and-machine-learning\/#What_is_Artificial_Intelligence\">artificial intelligence<\/a>\r\n research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supercomputers are<strong> also very costly, and they need special conditions such as high-level cooling facilities<\/strong> and massive physical accommodations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some popular <strong>supercomputers are Cray systems, Fugaku, and Sierra. <\/strong>They have<strong> special hardwares like GPUs (Graphics Processing Units) <\/strong>and <strong>TPUs (Tensor Processing Units)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Mainframe Computers\" class=\"wp-image-27062\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mainframe computers are gigantic computers<\/strong>, which are <strong>capable of processing high amounts of data <\/strong>and can support multiple users at a given time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are<strong> usually applied in large organizations like banks, insurance companies, government agencies, <\/strong>and <strong>airlines<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mainframe computers are associated with reliability, stability, <\/strong>and <strong>data processing capacity<\/strong> unlike the <strong>supercomputers which are designed for speed and complexity<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are <strong>able to serve thousands of users simultaneously <\/strong>and millions of transactions per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the roles that <strong>use a mainframe include payroll processing, census data processing, processing online transactions<\/strong>, and enterprise resource planning.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>examples of mainframe computers might include the IBM Z series, Unisys ClearPath, and CDC Cyber Series.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mainframes are large and expensive systems although they are smaller than supercomputers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.
