what is verification of marks in cbse

Do you understand the process of CBSE verification?

CBSE verification is a procedure that is aimed at identifying any mistakes made when totalling marks on an answer sheet and verifying that no answers have been graded incompetently.

It is an after-the-result process, which students may seek online on the CBSE site to have the marks re-counted. In case a change in marks is detected, one can proceed with this facility by taking a photocopy of the answer book and then, as necessary, seek re-evaluation.

CBSE marks verification gives the students the added advantage of getting a second chance to get a better score or to rectify any problem detected in the process of the marks verification.

For eg. In case you had expected 92 and got 29, you must get the marks verified. You must go to recheck/verify marks even when you had thought you should have got 10 marks higher than you actually got.

What is Verification of CBSE Marks?

CBSE Marks Verification is the procedure where the students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) can request a rechecking of their marks in the exams after results are announced.

This gives the students the opportunity to verify that their answer sheets were duly marked and there was no mistake made in totalling marks or in keying in the data. However, the CBSE board has changed the verification process.

The students are required to have a scanned copy of their assessment , after which they may request verification or re-evaluation. Students can request verification or re-review of particular subjects or questions only after getting the scanned copy of the same and reviewing it.

It is not a process of re-examination of responses at the first stage, but CBSE simply checks whether all the answers were marked, marks were added correctly, and the totals were properly marked in the mark sheet.

Such a process instils confidence in students that their results have been fairly and accurately determined and, as such, offers a formal means of rectifying any clerical or totalling errors that may have occurred in the process of evaluation.

How is the Process of Verification of CBSE Marks?

CBSE marks verification is done in a transparent and systematic way to ascertain the accuracy of the results of the exams taken by the students.

As soon as the results are announced, CBSE provides an online portal in which students have an opportunity to request verification within a given period at a nominal fee

At the stage of verification, the board will verify that all of the answers in the student’s answer sheet are answered and also ensure that none of the questions were unanswered.

  •  Rechecking of the calculation errors by adding the marks of the first page.
  •  Establishing whether there is any question which has not been evaluated or not.
  •  Checking of markings on the first page.
  •  Ensuring that the responses are all assessed correctly and points are assigned against them.
  • Assessing the validity or accuracy of responses. It simply examines whether the question is assessed or not. The way the question is reviewed is beyond its power.
