Why Grade 3 at 21K
How Grade 3 is taught in 21K: What makes our Grade 3 program exceptional
At 21K School, we have strong programmes that are designed to make learning meaningful. We ensure stress-free and hassle-free academic facilities.
Reading-to-Learn Transition
Grade 3 learners are supported in the reading-to-learn transition. They explore different issues and decipher them to acquire knowledge. In this way, learners are able to achieve grade-level reading fluency by year-end.
Live Classes, Not Pre-Recorded
We provide live classes as opposed to video classes, with a competent facilitator. In this way, learners are provided with real-time interactions, instant doubt-clearing, and collaborative group activities.
Small Batches
The 21K School parents can choose from two class sizes: a Class of 24 or a Class of 20. Students can also choose the session timings for either class size: S1 (9.30 AM IST), S2 (11.00 AM IST), S3 (1.30 PM IST) or S4 (3:20 PM IST).
Inquiry-Based Learning
Our five-stage learning cycle -Tuning In, Finding Out, Sorting Out, Going Further, going further and Making Conclusions builds real curiosity and independent thought, as opposed to cramming. It is also reinforced using the Capstone courses in Music, Digital Media, Arts and Public Speaking.
Project-Based Application
Another facility we support by way of project-based application is where learners have experience with real-life projects. Projects on topics such as English, Mathematics, Science, and Global Perspectives develop creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Social-Emotional Learning
Social-Emotional Learning also allows learners to acquire various skills, including empathy, resilience, skills of collaboration and confidence. It helps them to express themselves.

Parent Stories
What Grade 3 families are saying
Real parents, real children, real results from our Grade 3 programme.
"In just four months, my son went from dreading reading to finishing chapter books on his own. The facilitator noticed his love of animals and connected every reading session to nature topics. That personalised touch made all the difference."
Kavitha Menon
Chennai, Tamil Nadu · Grade 3
"My daughter used to cry during maths homework. After Grade 3 at 21K, she's teaching her younger sister multiplication tables and asking for extra problems. I genuinely didn't think this transformation was possible in one year."
Ritu Agarwal
Gurgaon, Haryana · Grade 3
"We moved from Dubai to Singapore mid-year and were worried about disruption. 21K made the transition seamless — same class, same facilitator, zero learning gap. The international community of learners actually enriched our daughter's perspective."
Nikhil & Priya Shah

Common Questions
Questions parents ask about Grade 3
Everything parents ask before enrolling their 8–9 year old in Grade 3.
What makes Grade 3 a critical milestone year?
In stages like Grade 3, children are moved from learning to read to reading to learn, where they start exploring new things. They focus on reading comprehension to gain knowledge about science, mathematics, and writing structured paragraphs.
How do live classes differ from pre-recorded videos?
Live classes are conducted virtually, where peers and facilitators can talk and discuss to get real-time feedback and monitoring. However, the recorded option of learning is stored in a file which can be accessed anytime.
Will my child master multiplication tables in Grade 3?
Yes, tables from 1 to 12 are taught by facilitators in the classroom as per the Grade 3 curriculum. However, there are other ways used, like visual arrays, skip-counting, and regular mental-math warm-ups.
How is my child assessed?
Our focus is on making children understandable rather than creating pressure. With a continuous and informal approach, we assess children at our school. For example, daily class interaction, submitted coursework, reading checks, and end-of-unit projects without the stress of a formal exam.
How much home practice is assigned daily?
In Grade 3, approx. 30 minutes of daily home practice is provided by facilitators. Facilitators also ensure children understand what is expected to be completed.
Can my child join mid-year?
Yes. Transfers in the middle of the year are accepted based on the availability of seats. We also have an academic team carrying out a placement assessment and a 2-week bridging plan so that your child can be properly integrated.
How do facilitators support shy or quiet children?
Small class size allows facilitators to monitor participation. Structured turn-taking, posing questions in a soft voice, and smaller groups breaking out, instead of call-outs, are used to encourage quiet learners.
Do we need a private tutor alongside 21K School?
No. Daily live teaching, regular doubt-clearing sessions and special academic catch-up sessions at school time are designed in such a way that they can address the learning needs without external tutoring.
What happens if our family relocates during the school year?
Online learning is the kind of learning where your child will be in the same studies with the same facilitator and others, regardless of your location or where you are headed, as long as you have a constant internet connection.
Can we try a live class before enrolling?
Yes. Book a free 45-minute trial live class to observe the functionality of our interactive platform, facilitators and peer groups.
How do you support children with mild learning differences?
We can assist with mild learning needs by using longer periods of time, scaffolds, and visual cues in our virtual classroom. When parents enrol their children in our online space, they send past assessment reports to help our educational staff determine whether our online space is the right fit for them.
