About Shazia

I’m Shazia Khan, an experienced Social Studies educator with 18 years of teaching across international curricula. I specialize in fostering critical thinking and global perspectives in middle and high school learners.

I’m Shazia Khan, with 18 years of comprehensive teaching experience across multiple international educational frameworks, I bring a unique perspective to social studies education. My extensive teaching background spans multiple curricula, including British and American Boards, Cambridge examinations (IGCSE, A and AS Levels), and International Baccalaureate programs for both Diploma and Middle Years Programme levels.

My subject expertise encompasses a wide range of social studies disciplines, including US History, World Geography, Global Politics, World History, Environmental Sciences, and Sociology. Throughout my career, I have developed a teaching philosophy centered on the Approaches to Learning (ATL), which prioritizes critical thinking, effective communication, collaborative skills, and self-management techniques. Currently, I teach Grade 8 Social Studies at 21KSchool, where I leverage virtual platforms to create global learning connections and engage students in meaningful educational experiences.

My primary goal is to consistently inspire students, cultivate critical thinking skills, and prepare learners to navigate an increasingly complex and evolving world. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss potential professional development workshops or collaborative teaching strategies that could enhance our educational approach and student learning outcomes.

I teach because I believe education is the most powerful way to nurture thoughtful, responsible citizens who can shape a better future. Over the years, I’ve seen how students light up when they connect historical and social concepts to issues in their own communities. Those moments remind me that teaching is not just about delivering content. Now more than ever, we need a citizenry that is aware of its rights and duties.
