About Sneha

Dr. Sneha Chakravarty is a Cambridge IGCSE and AS/A Level Biology facilitator with 10+ years of teaching experience, dedicated to building inquiry-based, student-centered learning experiences that spark curiosity and deeper understanding.

Dr. Sneha Chakravarty is a Biology facilitator at 21K School, teaching IGCSE and AS/A Level learners across the Cambridge curriculum. With over ten years of teaching experience, she brings a strong belief that students learn science best not by memorizing facts, but by asking better questions — an approach shaped by her five years of education research alongside the Department of Cognitive Science at IIT Kanpur, where she studied how tools like counterfactual reasoning and metacognitive reflection can deepen students' scientific thinking. This research has directly informed her classroom practice: she designs interactive handouts, real-life case studies, and inquiry-based activities that invite students to reason, question, and connect ideas rather than simply recall them. Dr. Chakravarty holds a B.Ed from Gujarat University and a Professional Doctorate in Education, and her work has been presented at the international conferences and published in peer-reviewed research, as well as in outlets like Teacher India (ACER) and ITM Consilium Education Magazine. She is passionate about creating online learning experiences that feel as engaging and connected as any classroom.

I didn't start out wanting to be a teacher. My early career was spent in laboratories — running protein assays at Biocon, setting up research infrastructure at ICMR — work I found meaningful, but quiet in a way that never quite let me see the effect of what I was doing. When I moved into teaching Biology in 2009, what struck me almost immediately was the opposite: I could watch, in real time, the moment a concept clicked for a learner, and it was addictive in a way lab work never was.

For years I taught the way most of us are trained to — cover the syllabus, explain clearly, check for understanding. It was only when I began a research collaboration studying how learners reason that I understood what had actually been missing. I wasn't just testing a hypothesis — I was watching learners ask questions I hadn't thought to ask myself, simply because I'd given them a different way to wonder about a problem. That stayed with me. It reframed what I thought my job in a classroom actually was: not to hand students the right answer efficiently, but to hand them a better question and get out of the way. I teach because I still remember what it felt like to watch a student surprise themselves with their own thinking, and I haven't found anything else worth chasing quite as much.

Sneha’s Philosophy

I'd rather send students home with a good question than a memorized answer.
