IELTS Preparation: Build the Skills Behind the Test
A focused English Mastery programme for eligible Grades 9–12 learners preparing to understand and respond to IELTS task demands.

Where IELTS fits
IELTS Preparation sits within Mastery, not the Languages portfolio.
It differs from ESOL. ESOL develops general English proficiency for Grades 1–8, while IELTS Preparation supports older learners with an examination goal.
Who the programme is for
The programme is intended for eligible learners in Grades 9–12.
A learner should have an appropriate starting level of English and a genuine test-preparation objective. Placement may consider current proficiency, intended test date, target pathway and a diagnostic. The programme cannot guarantee a particular band score or score improvement.
What learners work on
Preparation develops skills across listening, reading, writing and speaking.
Learners may practise understanding different accents and task formats, reading for detail and argument, planning and producing written responses, and speaking with clarity and structure. Test familiarity, time management, self-review and feedback support more confident performance.
Live learning and practice
Core teaching is live online and guided by a facilitator.
Sessions can combine strategy instruction, timed practice, response analysis, speaking activities, writing feedback and mock tasks. Digital materials may support independent practice. Recordings of every live class are not promised.
Diagnostic and progression
The entry diagnostic identifies whether the learner is ready for the programme and where support is needed.
Progress should be described through skill evidence, practice performance and feedback rather than a guaranteed band outcome. Any mock score is indicative and is not an official IELTS result.
Questions parents ask
Important distinctions before registration.
Is this an official IELTS examination?

Does 21K guarantee a band score?

Is IELTS Preparation the same as ESOL?
No. ESOL develops general English proficiency. IELTS Preparation serves eligible older learners with a specific assessment goal.
Will mock tests be included?
Mock-test coverage and frequency will be stated once the current programme structure is approved.
Can learners outside 21K School join?
