About Prabha
A passionate Tamil educator and Head of South Indian Languages, committed to nurturing a deep love for language and culture among learners. With extensive teaching experience, I strive to create engaging, meaningful, and inclusive language-learning experiences.
My journey as a Tamil educator began with a deep-rooted love for the language and a desire to help learners discover its richness in meaningful ways. With over 18 years of teaching experience, I have worked with learners across different age groups and learning levels, developing a strong understanding of their individual strengths, interests, and learning needs. I believe every learner has unique talents and potential, and I encourage them to recognise their strengths, nurture them with confidence, and strive for excellence in areas where they can truly shine.
Since joining 21K School in 2021, I have grown into a leadership role as the Head of South Indian Languages, where I work towards strengthening curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and language-learning practices across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. I value collaborative leadership, continuous learning, thoughtful planning, and mentoring facilitators to create consistent and meaningful learning experiences. I also enjoy exploring innovative approaches that make language learning more engaging and accessible. I was honoured with the title Painthamizh Thilagam by Tamil Asiriyar Kazhagam, Thiruvaiyaru, and recently completed a certification programme for School Tamil Teachers through Semmozhi Kazhagam, focusing on effective approaches to teaching Tamil Ilakkanam and Sangam literature. As an educator and leader, I aspire to inspire both learners and facilitators to recognise their potential, embrace their strengths, and continually strive for growth and excellence.
I believe teaching is about discovering the potential within every learner and helping them believe in it. Over the years, I have learnt that a learner may not always recognise their own strengths, and sometimes a teacher’s encouragement can be the beginning of that discovery. I enjoy identifying the unique talents and interests of my learners and creating opportunities for them to develop those strengths with confidence and purpose.
Tamil, for me, is more than a language to be taught, it is a way of connecting learners with expression, creativity, literature, and culture. What continues to inspire me as an educator is seeing a learner move from hesitation to confidence, discover a talent they did not recognise before, and take pride in what they can achieve. That transformation is the reason I continue to teach, learn, and grow as an educator.
