About Arpita
Science Teacher with experience in teaching Cambridge Science to middle-school learners in an online learning environment. I hold a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biotechnology, along with a B.Ed. I focus on making science engaging and concept-based through interactive activities, discussions, and real-world connections.
My Professional Journey – 2015 to 2026
My journey in the field of Biotechnology and Education began in 2015, with a strong interest in science and a desire to understand how scientific concepts connect with everyday life. I pursued my B.Sc. in Biotechnology from Rohilkhand University, which gave me a strong foundation in biology, biotechnology, laboratory concepts, and scientific thinking.
As my interest in science grew, I continued my academic journey with an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from HNB Garhwal University. My postgraduate studies helped me develop deeper subject knowledge, analytical skills, and a stronger understanding of biological processes. During this phase, I developed a greater interest in communicating scientific concepts and helping others understand science in a simple and meaningful way.
To strengthen my skills as an educator, I completed my B.Ed. from Rohilkhand University. This helped me understand different teaching approaches, learner needs, classroom management, assessment strategies, and the importance of making learning learner-centred.
Over the years, my professional journey gradually developed from a strong science background into a focused career in Science Education. Teaching has given me the opportunity to work with learners at different levels and understand that every learner has a different pace and style of learning. This experience has encouraged me to continuously adapt my teaching methods and explore new ways of making science interesting and accessible.
As an educator, I have developed experience in teaching Cambridge Science, particularly at the middle-school level. My teaching focuses on developing conceptual understanding, curiosity, scientific thinking, application skills, and critical thinking rather than relying only on memorisation.
My transition into online teaching has further expanded my teaching approach. I have learned to use digital platforms and interactive strategies to keep learners engaged in a virtual classroom. I regularly incorporate discussions, quizzes, worksheets, breakout-room activities, videos, simulations, polls, exit tickets, and real-world examples to make lessons more interactive.
During my teaching journey, I have planned and delivered lessons on topics including Cells, States of Matter, Forces and Energy, Ecosystems, Properties of Materials, Respiration, Nutrition, Life Processes, Acids and Alkalis, Environmental Science, Weather and Climate, Motion and Time, and other areas of school science. I have also worked on revision programmes, assessments, worksheets, enrichment sessions, Olympiad preparation, and learner-support activities.
A significant part of my growth as a teacher has been learning how to design effective questions and assessments. I have worked towards creating questions that go beyond recall and encourage learners to apply concepts, interpret information, analyse situations, and connect science with real-life contexts. I have also incorporated diagrams, flowcharts, tables, scenario-based questions, and Cambridge-style assessment approaches into my teaching and assessment planning.
I believe professional development is an ongoing journey. Through training, peer observations, feedback, collaboration with coordinators and colleagues, and reflection on my lessons, I have continued to improve my classroom practices. These experiences have encouraged me to experiment with inquiry-based learning, differentiated activities, formative assessment, and technology-supported learning.
From 2015 to 2026, my journey has therefore been one of continuous learning and transformation—from a student of Biotechnology to a qualified educator and, ultimately, a Science Teacher committed to creating engaging, meaningful, and learner-centred science experiences.
Today, I continue to grow as an educator with the aim of making science simple, engaging, interactive, and connected to the real world, while encouraging every learner to ask questions, explore ideas, think critically, and develop a genuine curiosity about science.
I teach because I enjoy making science simple, engaging, and meaningful. Seeing a learner understand a difficult concept and become curious to learn more is what inspires me every day.
