"Education arrived late in my life, yet it never once constrained my aspirations. I came to teaching by chance rather than design, but what began as circumstance soon revealed itself as calling — the moment I understood that a life could be altered through the quiet, cumulative power of interaction with learners, facilitators, and parents alike. Leadership, too, emerged organically rather than by pursuit, shaped by the fortune of being present at the founding of ventures across both physical and virtual terrain. That vantage point afforded me an education of my own — a working fluency across curricula as varied as American, IB, Cambridge, NIOS, and NCF.
Today, at the helm of Asia's largest online school, I remain anchored to a single conviction: that to educate a child is to build a school, not a school building — an ethos, not an edifice — where the young grow not merely knowledgeable, but skilled, self-assured, and, above all else, humane.
Twenty-two years on, in moments of reflection, my thoughts return less to what has changed in education than to what we, as educators, have had to become in order to meet that change — how two decades of transformation have asked of us a constant, deliberate reinvention. I continue in my role as Head of School with the same conviction I carried at the outset: that a facilitator who leads with compassion, and with a genuine hunger to matter, can alter the trajectory of a life. Every institution I have helped shape has taught me the same enduring lesson — that growth, pursued in isolation, is a lesser thing than growth pursued together.
Looking forward, my hope is unadorned: that we continue to build classrooms unbound by walls, and possibilities unbound by circumstance — spaces where curiosity is not merely permitted but cultivated, where individuality is regarded as a strength rather than an exception, and where every child is emboldened to dream without apology and pursue that dream without hesitation.
As 21K School continues its ascent, my aspiration is a modest but exacting one: that we remain, in the global landscape of learning, unmistakably ourselves — bold enough to take risks, disciplined enough to sustain conviction, and resolute in building a world where every learner discovers, in time, a path entirely their own."
