Sumera Khan

I am a Middle School Mathematics Facilitator with over 10 years of experience in Mathematics education across schools, online learning and diverse international curricula. At 21K School, I facilitate Mathematics learning for middle school learners, with a focus on helping them build conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning and the confidence to communicate their thinking. I believe Mathematics is best learned when learners are encouraged to explore, question, make connections, identify patterns, learn from mistakes and apply concepts to unfamiliar situations. My teaching incorporates Higher-Order Thinking Skills, inquiry-based questioning, real-world applications and collaborative activities. I have experience with GCSE, IGCSE, IB, Cambridge, Australian and New Zealand curricula, as well as Olympiad Mathematics.

I teach because I love seeing Mathematics become meaningful to a learner. One of my favourite moments is when a student who initially feels that a problem is too difficult begins exploring different possibilities, discovers a pattern or corrects their own mistake—and eventually explains the solution in their own words. That transition from “I don't know how to do this” to “Let me try” is what I aim to create in every Mathematics learning experience.
