Cookies and Preference Policy
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies on the 21K School website, what they are used for, and how to change your choice at any time. This policy applies to the 21K School website (21kschool.com and all its country sites).
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. Websites also use similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage and session storage, and small pieces of code from other companies (often called tags or pixels). In this policy we refer to these collectively as “Cookies”.
Some last only until you close the tab or browser. Others stay for a set time, or until you clear your browser data. First-party cookies are saved on our own website address (21kschool.com), either by 21K School or by another company’s tool running on our pages. Third-party cookies are saved on another company’s website address, such as linkedin.com or bing.com.
How we use cookies
We group our cookies into four categories. When you first visit, you may manage your cookie preferences through the cookie preference banner.
| Category | What it does | When it is set | Can it identify you? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | These keep the site working and secure: remembering your cookie choice, sending you to your country’s site, keeping a form you have started together, and checking that a form is filled in by a person rather than an automated program. | Always on. No consent needed. | No. |
| Functional and preferences | These remember choices you make, such as the country site you picked, a blog comment name, or steps ticked in a how-to guide. | On without asking. Set only when you do something, such as choosing a country or posting a comment. | No, apart from the details you save for blog comments, which stay in your browser. |
| Analytics and performance | These help us understand how the site is used, such as which pages are read and where people stop, so that we can improve it. | Only with your consent: “Accept all”, or Analytics switched on under “Customise”. | No on its own; uses random IDs. |
| Advertising and marketing | These measure whether our advertising works, link an ad you clicked to an enquiry you sent, and let advertising platforms show you 21K adverts on other sites (remarketing). This includes our own records of how you found us. | Only with your consent: “Accept all”, or Marketing switched on under “Customise”. | Ad platforms may link it to your account with them. |
For each category below: what the cookies are used for, who provides them, how long they last and whether we ask first. Analytics and advertising tools are loaded through Google Tag Manager; how long their cookies last is set by the companies that run them.
Strictly necessary
- What they are for
- Remembering your cookie choice, taking you to your country’s site, keeping the steps of a form you have started together, making sure one enquiry is not counted twice, and checking that a form is filled in by a person rather than an automated program.
- Who provides them
- 21K School, and Cloudflare for the security check on our forms.
- How long they last
- Most last only for your visit; some last up to 30 days. Your cookie choice is kept until you change it or clear your browser data.
- Consent
- Always on. No consent needed.
Functional and preferences
- What they are for
- Remembering the country site you picked or a suggestion you closed, the details you typed for a blog comment so you do not type them again, and the steps you ticked in a how-to guide.
- Who provides them
- 21K School.
- How long they last
- From an hour up to 1 year, or until you clear your browser data.
- Consent
- On without asking. Set only when you do something, such as choosing a country or posting a comment.
Analytics and performance
- What they are for
- Counting visits and seeing how people use our pages, including where a page is confusing or where people stop, so that we can improve the site. A short summary of your visit may be sent to us with an enquiry you send.
- Who provides them
- 21K School, and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Contentsquare.
- How long they last
- From the length of your visit up to about 13 months, as set by each provider.
- Consent
- Only with your consent: “Accept all”, or Analytics switched on under “Customise”.
Advertising and marketing
- What they are for
- Measuring whether our adverts work, linking an advert you clicked to an enquiry you send, and showing 21K adverts to people who have visited our site (remarketing). This includes our own records of how you found us, which are sent to us only with a form you fill in.
- Who provides them
- 21K School, and advertising tools from Google, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Microsoft and LinkedIn.
- How long they last
- From a few minutes up to about 13 months, as set by each provider; some are kept until you clear your browser data or withdraw consent.
- Consent
- Only with your consent: “Accept all”, or Marketing switched on under “Customise”.
Our own records of how you found us are saved only with your marketing consent, stay in your browser, and are sent to us only together with a form you fill in, so that our admissions team knows what led to your enquiry. If you withdraw marketing consent, they are deleted from your browser.
Videos, podcasts and documents from other services
Some pages show content from other services inside the page. When that content loads, the service may set its own cookies and receive your IP address and browser details, under its own privacy policy.
| Service | Where it appears |
|---|---|
| YouTube (Google) | Videos on many pages and blog posts |
| Spotify | Our podcast page |
| Vimeo | Some videos |
| Google Drive | Video cards in the Media Room |
| Issuu and Heyzine | Certificate and guide readers |
Analytics, advertising and remarketing
- Analytics. With your consent, we may record how you use our pages, including interactions with the website, along with general information about your device, browser and an approximate location.
- Advertising and remarketing. With your consent, we may use advertising tools to measure the effectiveness of our advertisements and show 21K advertisements to people who have visited us. These tools may share such information with third-party advertising platforms to build a profile of interests, in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
Security, fraud prevention and sign-in
We use security technologies, such as Cloudflare Turnstile, to protect our forms from spam, automated submissions and misuse. These technologies are strictly necessary and do not require your consent.
Learners and children
Our website is intended for parents and guardians, and may be accessed in connection with children. Where information relating to a child is collected through our website, it is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws. Parents and guardians are encouraged to manage cookie preferences appropriately when a child uses a device to access our website.
Who can see this information
Information collected through Cookies and Similar Technologies may be accessed by 21K School and relevant service providers for the purposes described in this Policy and our Privacy Policy. Where third-party technologies are used, the information may also be processed by the relevant third-party service providers in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
Changing or withdrawing your choice
You can change or withdraw your cookie preferences at any time through the cookie preference settings.
When you save a new choice, we store it in your browser in place of the old one and tell Google’s tags straight away. If you switch analytics off, our own visit summary is removed. If you switch marketing off, our records of how you found us are deleted and are no longer sent with an enquiry. Cookies that analytics or advertising tools set before you changed your mind stay in your browser until they expire, unless you delete them in your browser settings.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser under Settings (or Preferences). Please note that blocking or deleting certain Cookies and Similar Technologies may affect the functionality of our website.
Changes to this policy
