Frequently asked questions

Does this page send my details to CBSE?
No. Everything you type is checked inside this page and nothing is sent from it — there is no upload, no lookup and no record kept. CBSE requires you to re-enter your details on its own portal at cbseit.in, which is what the link hands you.
What details do I need?
The candidate's full name, the father's name, the mother's name, and the date of birth as registered with CBSE. The 5-digit school code is optional and only helps narrow the results.
Where does the roll number actually appear?
On the CBSE portal, after you submit your details there. Your roll number and school number both appear; save them, because you need them for results and for admit card downloads.
The CBSE link does not open — what now?
CBSE moves the portal URL each exam cycle. Visit cbseit.in directly and navigate to Roll Number Finder; the tool you want is the same one, at a new address.
Can I use this for both Class 10 and Class 12?
Yes. Pick the class before you search. The finder covers the Secondary (Class 10) and Senior Secondary (Class 12) examinations.
Why can this page not just show me the roll number?
Because the roll number is personal data held by CBSE, and CBSE releases it only through its own authenticated portal. Any page claiming to return a CBSE roll number directly is either guessing or collecting your details for another purpose.

About this calculator

What this tool does

The CBSE roll number is not something any third party can look up for you: it is personal data, and CBSE releases it only through its own portal. What this page does is the part that goes wrong before you get there — it checks that the details you are about to type are complete and in the right shape, then hands you the link.

No data is sent from this page. Your name, your parents' names and your date of birth are checked inside your browser and go nowhere else. CBSE will ask you for them again on its own portal, and that is deliberate on their side, not a duplication on ours.

After the portal

Your roll number and school number both appear on the CBSE portal once you submit there. Save both. You need the roll number to open your result, and the school number is the second credential the results portal asks for.

If the link does not open, CBSE has moved it — the portal path changes each exam cycle. Visit cbseit.in directly and navigate to Roll Number Finder.
