Financial Literacy: Make Informed Choices About Money
Learners build practical understanding through decisions, scenarios, simulations and age-appropriate projects.

Why financial literacy matters
Young people encounter money long before they are responsible for managing it independently.
The programme helps them understand how choices, goals, trade-offs and risk shape financial decisions. It does not provide investment advice or promise wealth. It builds vocabulary, judgement and habits that can support responsible participation in everyday financial life.
What learners may explore
Topics are adapted to grade band and level.
Learning may include
- The Purpose of Money
- Needs and Wants
- Spending Choices
- Saving
- Goal Setting
- Budgeting
- Banking
- Digital Payments
- Assets and Liabilities
- Interest
- Inflation
- Borrowing
- Investing Concepts
- Consumer Rights
- Taxation
- Financial Planning
Every topic should be taught through age-appropriate examples. Learners should not be asked to transact, invest real money or share sensitive financial information.
Learning through application
Live sessions connect concepts with choices learners can examine.
Activities may include budgeting challenges, case studies, simulations, comparison tasks, presentations and planning projects. Learners explain decisions, consider consequences and reflect on how financial information should be checked.

Three levels
Level 1: Foundations
The first level establishes essential vocabulary and everyday money habits.
Learners may explore value, needs and wants, spending wisely, saving, simple budgets, goals, banking basics and digital financial safety.
Level 2: Developing judgement
The second level should expand financial comparison, planning and risk awareness.
Level 3: Applying financial thinking
The third level should require more independent analysis and a substantial practical project.
Responsible boundaries
The programme is educational and age-appropriate.
It should distinguish learning simulations from regulated financial advice. Personal bank details, passwords, payment credentials and family financial data should never be requested in class.
