Tools Are Introduced with Clear Boundaries and Active Supervision

Learners use age- and readiness-appropriate equipment, while higher-risk work remains facilitator-operated or closely supervised.

Sessions are planned for up to 24 learners

The confirmed maximum capacity is 24 learners in a session, with an instructor or mentor responsible for the group.

The activity, learner readiness and tools determine how support is organised within that session. Parents may observe, and the Garage team can explain the supervision arrangement for the selected module before booking.

Advanced equipment has tighter controls

Electrical work, soldering, cutting, fabrication and 3D printing are handled by facilitators or completed under their supervision.

Learners may directly operate suitable kits after instruction. Personal protective equipment is provided where the activity requires it. A recommended minimum age of 13 applies to advanced Electronics work such as soldering and PCB design, alongside a readiness check.

Arrival, pickup and incidents follow centre procedures

Centres use sign-in, visitor and pickup controls, with the Learning Garage manager responsible for parent communication.

Each centre has a basic medical kit and an emergency-response process. If an incident occurs, the Learning Garage manager contacts the parent or guardian through an official number. CCTV is used, with footage retained for 45 days.

Safe participation begins before the session

Families receive preparation guidance, including when a laptop or consent information is required.

Consent forms form part of registration. The booking confirmation identifies what the learner should bring. Families can contact the centre before arrival to discuss access, supervision or activity-specific concerns.
