Manbinder Kaur

I began my teaching journey in engineering education, where I taught and worked with students across technical disciplines before moving into school education. Over the years, my experience has shaped my belief that learning becomes more meaningful when students are encouraged to question, explore, and connect concepts to the world around them. As a Middle School Mathematics Facilitator, I strive to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment where learners feel confident to participate, make mistakes, and learn from them. I particularly enjoy making Mathematics relatable through real-life contexts, hands-on experiences, discussions, and problem-solving. My background in engineering, along with my B.Ed. and certification in Social Emotional Learning for Teachers from UNESCO MGIEP, continues to influence my approach to teaching and learner development.

For me, teaching is about the moment when a learner moves from “I can't do this” to “I think I can.” My own journey from engineering education to school Mathematics has helped me understand that every learner approaches a concept differently. I enjoy finding different ways to make a difficult idea simpler, relatable, and less intimidating. What keeps me motivated is seeing learners become more confident in asking questions, sharing their thinking, and solving problems independently. I teach because I want learners to see Mathematics not just as a subject to be completed, but as a way of thinking, questioning, and making sense of the world around them.
