About mercy

Psychology Educator, Counsellor and Student Wellbeing Professional with 8+ years of experience across Psychology education, IB-aligned teaching, counselling, Social-Emotional Learning, inclusive education and learner support. With an M.Sc. in Counselling & Psychotherapy, B.Ed. in Special Education, and Ph.D. in Child Special Education (Pursuing) at Jain University, I bring a student-centred, inclusive and psychologically informed approach to education and wellbeing.

My teaching journey has grown at the intersection of Psychology, education, counselling, wellbeing and inclusion, with over eight years of experience supporting learners across diverse educational settings. I began my career in life-skills education and counselling, gradually developing a strong interest in understanding learners not only academically but also emotionally, socially and developmentally. Over the years, I have taught Psychology at the secondary and senior-secondary levels, including ISC and IB-aligned Psychology, while designing interactive, application-focused learning experiences that connect psychological concepts to real-world situations. Alongside teaching, I have worked as a school counsellor and wellbeing professional, providing individual and group counselling, Social-Emotional Learning, life-skills programmes, academic and pastoral support, and parent wellbeing workshops. My experience in international education has further strengthened my ability to work within multicultural learning environments and adapt teaching and learner-support approaches to diverse needs. Currently, as a Psychology Educator and Humanities Subject Lead at 21K School, I focus on creating engaging, student-centred learning experiences while supporting assessment, research skills, critical thinking and independent learning. My academic background includes an M.Sc. in Counselling & Psychotherapy and a B.Ed. in Special Education, and I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Child Special Education at Jain University. I believe education is most meaningful when learners feel understood, included, challenged and empowered, and I strive to bring a psychologically informed, compassionate and inclusive approach to every learning experience.

I teach because I believe that behind every learner is a story, a need to be understood, and a unique way of making sense of the world. My journey from Psychology education to counselling, wellbeing and special education has taught me that learning is not only about academic achievement—it is also about helping young people understand themselves, build confidence, navigate challenges and discover their strengths. Some of the most meaningful moments in my teaching have been when a learner who once hesitated to speak begins to express an idea confidently, when a difficult psychological concept suddenly becomes meaningful through a real-life experience, or when a student feels genuinely heard and supported. These moments remind me why I chose education. I want my classroom to be a space where learners can question, think deeply, make mistakes, communicate openly and feel that their voice matters. For me, teaching Psychology is ultimately about teaching learners to understand people—including themselves—with curiosity, empathy and compassion.

Mercy’s philosophy

Every learner is capable of growth when they feel understood, valued and supported.
Education should develop the whole person—not only academic knowledge, but also emotional, social and psychological wellbeing.
Psychology education should encourage curiosity, critical thinking, self-awareness, empathy and meaningful application to everyday life.
Every learner is unique, and teaching should be inclusive, differentiated and responsive to individual strengths and needs.
A safe and supportive learning environment enables learners to ask questions, make mistakes, express themselves and develop confidence.
Teaching is not simply about delivering content; it is about empowering learners to understand themselves, others and the world around them.
I believe in evidence-informed, ethical and compassionate practice that connects education, counselling, wellbeing and inclusion.
The learner's voice, dignity and wellbeing should remain at the heart of every educational experience.
