What learners develop
Every language pathway builds the four connected skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
The emphasis changes by age, proficiency and language. Beginners build sound–meaning connections, everyday vocabulary and confidence. Continuing learners expand comprehension, grammar, expression and independent communication. Heritage speakers may strengthen reading and writing while developing a more accurate, confident command of a language already heard at home.
How languages are taught
The common framework develops Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing alongside vocabulary, grammar and cultural understanding.
Facilitators use conversation, storytelling, role play, listening tasks, reading, structured writing, presentations, projects and culturally relevant material. Learners practise language in purposeful situations rather than memorising isolated word lists. Digital content, audio resources, worksheets, presentations and recorded learning resources support revision and independent practice beyond the live class.

- JuneMain Start
Programmes follow a ten-month cycle with two live 40-minute classes per week. June is the main start, with additional cohorts possible during the year. Exact days and current batch options vary by language.
Finding the right starting level
Placement considers grade, previous exposure and demonstrated proficiency.
A complete beginner can start where the programme permits. Learners with prior knowledge may be placed after a conversation, work sample or diagnostic. Heritage speakers are not assumed to have the same literacy level as their speaking or listening ability.
Progress is reviewed through participation, classwork, practical communication, facilitator feedback and level-appropriate assessments. Parents receive connects during the year and an overall report at the end of the programme. For enrolled 21K School learners, relevant reporting may form part of the school report.
What families provide
The programme includes live instruction and required digital learning resources.
Families provide a compatible device, stable internet and a quiet environment for speaking and listening practice. No physical learning kit is shipped. Any optional book or examination cost must be disclosed before enrolment.
