How did you hear about us?

Middle school changes more than the level of the syllabus. Learners begin forming stronger opinions, testing their abilities and taking greater ownership of who they want to become.

At 21K School, your child learns live from home through the Indian or British pathway. Structured academics, trained teachers whom we also call facilitators, flexible class timings, regular assessment and opportunities beyond the curriculum help learners build knowledge, confidence and independence. 21K School is a registered online Cambridge International School (IA702) and is not affiliated to CBSE. It is a complete school experience designed for the learner they are becoming—not an average learner the system expects.

Why parents choose 21K for Grades 6–8

Structure and academic rigour, with room for your child to learn, develop and take greater ownership at their own pace.

By middle school, a child’s needs become harder to serve through a one-size-fits-all classroom. Some learners need more time to secure foundations. Others are ready for deeper challenge. Many are balancing sport, performing arts, travel, health needs or interests that a rigid timetable cannot accommodate.

A curious, smiling girl
“It is a matter of fact that I have seen a huge improvement and development in both my wards. It was a tremendous idea to admit both of the sons. There is a drastic change to be seen in speaking skills and logical analysis. In 21k I felt they give importance to knowledge rather than emphasis on good grades.”
Parent of Rudra Mann, Grade 6, Ghaziabad

21K School combines academic structure with room to grow differently. Learners attend live weekday classes, learn with peers, complete projects and assessments, and receive feedback from facilitators. They also begin managing time, making choices, expressing ideas and taking responsibility for progress.

For parents, the reassurance is clear: flexibility does not replace rigour. It helps the right learning happen with fewer unnecessary constraints.

Personalised, Flexible and Accelerated (PFA) learning: the three cornerstone pillars of the academic approach.

  • Personalised

Assessment, learner work and ongoing feedback help facilitators identify strengths, misconceptions and learning needs. Support and challenge can then respond more meaningfully to the learner.

  • Flexible

Multiple class timings and online access allow learning to continue across locations and changing routines. This is especially valuable for athletes, performers, travelling families and learners whose circumstances make daily physical-school attendance difficult.

  • Accelerated

Acceleration means sustained growth. Learners can rebuild weak foundations through structured support while also extending learning through projects, enrichment and opportunities beyond grade-level expectations.

Indian or British Middle School: How to choose

Both pathways offer live, structured learning, with different curriculum frameworks and progression into the qualifications that follow Middle School.

Both pathways provide live teaching, academic progression, assessment, learning resources, peer interaction and a wider school experience. The principal difference is the curriculum framework and the qualifications towards which the learner will progress.

Language choices

Learners can choose from Indian and international languages subject to grade, pathway, scheduling and availability. Current choices span Arabic, Hindi, French, Kannada, Japanese, Malayalam, Spanish, Marathi, ESOL, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

Optional third-language classes are generally scheduled outside regular school hours and may carry an additional fee.

From learning subjects to thinking across them

Inquiry, the 5E model and interdisciplinary projects.

Middle school learners need more than isolated facts. They must learn to investigate, connect ideas, evaluate evidence and communicate a point of view.

The Indian pathway uses a competency-based approach grounded in the 5E instructional model: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate. Inquiry, active engagement, experiential learning, reflection and feedback help learners build deeper understanding.

The British pathway follows Cambridge learning objectives and subject strands, with enquiry and progression built across Years 7 to 9.

Across both pathways, interdisciplinary projects and authentic tasks help learners use knowledge from more than one subject to examine real questions and create meaningful responses.

Ready for Grade 9 and future board pathways

By the end of Grade 8 or Year 9, learners are prepared to take on greater academic depth, independence and responsibility as they move into Senior School.

Middle school must prepare learners for the demands of secondary education without turning Grades 6 to 8 into premature board coaching.

By the end of Grade 8 or Year 9, learners should have:

  • Secure foundations in language, Mathematics, Science and the humanities
  • Greater fluency in reading, writing, reasoning and problem-solving
  • Experience planning investigations, projects and presentations
  • Stronger study routines and time-management skills
  • The ability to use feedback and reflect on progress
  • Growing confidence in independent learning
  • A clearer understanding of interests and possible subject directions
  • Familiarity with structured assessments and internationally benchmarked questions

Indian Middle School creates a foundation for progression into an Indian secondary pathway. British Lower Secondary builds structured readiness for Cambridge IGCSE. The aim is not simply to cover more content, but to make learners capable of handling greater depth, choice and responsibility.

How online middle school works

Live classes, independent work and increasing ownership come together as learners become more responsible for how they learn.

Learners join scheduled live classes from Monday to Friday. Facilitators explain concepts, ask questions, lead discussions, guide problem-solving and create opportunities for collaboration. Learners work through coursebooks, workbooks, digital resources, assignments, assessments and projects.

Learning continues beyond live sessions through reading, practice, research, reflection and independent work. Recorded sessions support revision and continuity, subject to the current recording policy.

The online model gives learners greater responsibility. They must arrive prepared, participate actively, organise tasks and seek help when needed. Facilitators and support teams provide structure, but the learner increasingly owns the journey.

A typical school day

Around four hours of live, interactive classes each school day, Monday to Friday, balanced with independent learning beyond the timetable.

Middle School learners attend approximately four hours of live classes, Monday to Friday.

Current class timing options

  • 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM IST
  • 11:10 AM to 3:10 PM IST
  • 1:40 PM to 5:40 PM IST
  • 3:20 PM to 7:20 PM IST

Requested timings are subject to pathway and seat availability. Optional languages, capstones or other programmes may be scheduled beyond the main timetable.

Breaks are built between learning sessions. Learners also require time outside live classes for reading, assignments, projects, practice and independent study.

Flexibility with accountability

Flexible timings create more room in the day, while expectations around attendance, participation and academic progress remain clear.

Flexibility works when expectations remain clear. Learners are expected to attend, participate, complete academic work and meet assessment timelines.

At the same time, the online model reduces commuting and creates more usable time for sport, performing arts, travel, health routines, family responsibilities and focused independent work. Secure recordings and digital resources can help with revision or an occasional missed class; they do not turn live school into an optional experience.

How assessment supports progress

Four kinds of assessment, and how you'll see results.

Assessment helps learners and facilitators understand what is secure, what needs attention and what the next challenge should be.

  • Diagnostic Assessment

Identifies starting points, learning gaps and misconceptions so that support can be better targeted.

  • Formative Assessment

Takes place during learning through questions, tasks, assignments, discussions, projects and feedback. It allows improvement before a unit is complete.

  • Summative Assessment

Reviews achievement at the end of a defined unit, term or course and contributes to formal reporting.

  • International Benchmark Testing

Learners may undertake the International Benchmark Test administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research in English, Mathematics, Science and Reasoning. It offers an external view of performance against international benchmarks.

ACER IBT is the International Benchmark Tests run by the Australian Council for Educational Research. Nearly 2,000 learners participated in ACER IBT in academic year 2025–26 and 49,680 pages of learner work marked (2025–26).

Parents and learners can access progress information through the school’s systems and receive structured reports at defined points during the academic year. Facilitator feedback helps identify strengths, learning gaps and appropriate next steps.

Support when a learner needs it

Targeted help for gaps, and extension for those ready.

Middle school can expose learning gaps that were easy to miss in earlier grades. 21K School uses assessment and feedback to identify where reinforcement or intervention may be needed.

Support may include facilitator feedback, targeted practice, progress monitoring, small-group intervention or structured foundational programmes where applicable. Learners ready for more advanced challenge can receive enrichment and opportunities to extend their thinking.

21K School provides limited academic support for learners with special educational needs through qualified professionals. Families should discuss individual needs confidentially before admission so the school can determine whether appropriate support can be provided.

The learner experience

Voice, choice and opportunities to lead help young teens become more confident, independent contributors.

Middle school learners want to be taken seriously. They need a voice, meaningful choices and opportunities to discover where they belong.

At 21K School, learners participate in discussions, projects, presentations, assemblies, celebrations and collaborative activities. They learn to express ideas, listen to different perspectives, work through disagreement and contribute to a diverse community.

Through learner-led conferences, reflections and goal-setting, they begin to understand their own progress. Leadership opportunities help them move from being participants to becoming contributors.

Fests, debates and projects beyond class

Science Fest, Mathalon, Model United Nations and other experiences give learners opportunities to explore interests, collaborate and contribute beyond regular classes.

Depending on grade, pathway and the annual calendar, learners may participate in:

  • Science Fest and exhibitions
  • Mathalon
  • Lit Fest
  • Art Fest
  • Debates and public speaking
  • Model United Nations
  • Shark Tank and entrepreneurship experiences
  • Interdisciplinary and passion projects
  • TED-Ed Student Talks Program
  • Community, Action and Service activities
  • Learner leadership programmes
  • Fitness, mindfulness and well-being experiences
  • Guest-speaker interactions
  • Innovation and design challenges

Optional programmes may also provide exposure to artificial intelligence, financial literacy, digital media, entrepreneurship, public speaking, music, dance and other skill areas. Availability and fees vary by programme and grade.

Friends, community and in-person experiences

Familiar classmates, Houses, shared events and selected in-person experiences help learners build friendships and feel part of a wider school community.

Learners build relationships through familiar live classes, group work, assemblies, houses, events and shared projects. Working with peers from different cities and backgrounds also helps them communicate across perspectives.

Selected in-person experiences take place in major cities depending on the annual calendar and location. These may include sports days, carnivals, field trips, nature experiences, day trips and domestic or international excursions. Families can review the experiences available to their cohort and location during the year.

The 21K Learning Garages are physical spaces where learners can learn skills like AI, Robotics, 3D Printing and more. These garages are currently located in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and New Delhi with expansion plans in the coming months.

Facilitators, mentors and academic guidance

Qualified subject facilitators bring teaching experience and subject knowledge to the classroom, supported by ongoing professional development.

At 21K School, teachers are called facilitators because they do more than deliver content. They question, guide, observe, challenge and help learners develop ways of thinking and working independently.

Facilitators are selected for qualifications, relevant teaching experience, subject understanding and their ability to connect with learners. They receive continuing professional development, including relevant board training and training in child safety, cyber security and cultural sensitivity.

Academic leaders, coordinators and learner-support teams help maintain continuity across subjects and provide routes for parents or learners to raise questions and seek support.

Learner attributes for life

Seven attributes help learners build the independence, confidence and character to navigate learning—and life—with greater purpose.

Middle school is where the qualities behind long-term success become visible.

Learners are encouraged to become:

  • Agentic learners who take ownership and set meaningful goals
  • Resilient thinkers who persist, adapt and learn from setbacks
  • Critical and creative problem-solvers who use evidence and imagination
  • Effective communicators who listen and express ideas clearly
  • Collaborative global citizens who work respectfully across differences
  • Ethical and empathetic individuals who understand responsibility
  • Lifelong learners who recognise progress and identify next steps

The 16 Habits of Mind reinforce these dispositions across lessons, feedback, projects and everyday interactions. They are part of the culture of learning, not an additional subject.

21K School is the first school in Asia recognised as an International Habits of Mind Learning Community of Excellence. Certification renewed at Milestone 3.

“We are really happy with 21K School and the experience Bryan has had so far. Earlier, school schedules used to be very hectic and stressful for him, but now he is much more comfortable and happy with learning. One thing we really appreciate is that Bryan now gets enough time for other activities, to spend time with family and also enjoy time with his friends, which he didn’t have earlier. We can clearly see a positive change in him. The teachers are supportive, classes are well managed, and the overall learning environment feels stress-free and child friendly. Bryan is more confident now and enjoys learning at his own pace. Thank you to the entire 21K team for all the support and care.”
Parent of Bryan Nigel Raj, Grade 5, Bengaluru
