Ishani Mitra

I began my teaching journey in 2015 as a Physics Lecturer at Sammilani Mahavidyalaya, a college affiliated to the University of Calcutta, after completing my M.Sc. in Electronic Sciences. From 2017 to 2022 I taught with Vedantu as a tutor and quality reviewer, where I learned how to make live online lessons clear, interactive and personal. Alongside teaching, I completed my PhD at Jadavpur University. My research brought physics, chemistry and biology together: I designed nanomaterials and studied how they interact with proteins and even plant chloroplasts. I published ten journal papers and a book chapter and mentored postgraduate students along the way. I have also taught physics at Manthan Vidyashram and worked as a Curriculum Planner at Sekolah Anak Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, which showed me how learners from different backgrounds approach science. Today, as a Science Facilitator at 21K School, I help middle schoolers build strong foundations and a real love for science.

During my PhD, I spent hours watching tiny carbon dots glow under light and asking why. That same "why" is what I love hearing from my students. When a middle schooler connects a lesson to something they've noticed, like why leaves are green, how a rainbow forms or what makes a glow stick shine, science stops being facts to memorise and becomes a way of making sense of the world. I teach because I want every learner to feel that spark and to know that asking questions is exactly how scientists begin.
