See Learning Against an International Benchmark
Online benchmark testing can add an external, skills-focused view to the evidence gathered through everyday teaching on campus.

What benchmark testing adds
Classroom work, projects, facilitator observations and school assessments show how a learner is progressing within the curriculum. The ACER International Benchmark Tests add a different perspective: they compare performance across grades, countries and time using internationally administered assessments.
At 21K School, the current online pathway offers ACER IBT to eligible learners in Grades 3 to 8 across English, Mathematics, Science and Reasoning. The tests focus on understanding, application and higher-order thinking rather than recall alone.

What the assessment measures
English
Locating and interpreting information, inferring meaning, predicting outcomes, drawing conclusions and reasoning.
Mathematics
Interpreting data, applying concepts to real-life situations, problem-solving and logical reasoning.
Science
Observing and interpreting data, applying scientific principles, inquiry and problem-solving.
Reasoning
Logical and analytical thinking, pattern recognition, decision-making and problem-solving.
An online assessment within a wider learning journey
The ACER IBT is conducted online. The current online model describes it as a predominantly multiple-choice assessment of 60 minutes for each subject, supported by diagnostic evidence, skill-building through the year and an individual learner report.
For Puducherry learners, benchmark evidence should complement - not replace - campus teaching and assessment. Facilitators can use relevant findings to identify strengths, misconceptions and areas requiring reinforcement or greater challenge. A benchmark is one source of evidence; it is not a label, an entrance examination or a guarantee of future results.

Understanding the report
ACER provides individual reports with information across strands and skill areas. Families should read the report as a profile of demonstrated performance at a particular point in time. The value lies in the questions it helps educators and families ask: Where is understanding secure? Which skills need attention? What should the learner practise or explore next?
Questions parents ask
Is Benchmark Testing conducted on campus?
The assessment is delivered online, and taken from Campus
Which learners can take ACER IBT?
The current 21K Online School pathway serves Grades 3 to 8. Final eligibility for Puducherry learners will depend on the approved campus implementation.
Which subjects are assessed?
The current pathway covers English, Mathematics, Science and Reasoning. The school will confirm the subjects available to each participating learner.
Is IBT an Olympiad or entrance examination?
No. It is an internationally benchmarked, skills-focused assessment intended to provide evidence about reasoning, application and progress.
Will the result affect school promotion?
The benchmark should be interpreted with classroom evidence and the school’s assessment policy. It should not be presented as the sole basis for promotion or a judgement of overall ability.
