Mastery Starts from What a Learner Can Do Now

English and Mathematics pathways use diagnostics, live facilitation and adaptive progression to build connected understanding.

We welcome learners from all schoolsYou don’t need to be a 21K School learner to join FLOWW.

One purpose, different starting points

Learners of the same age can have very different strengths and gaps.

One learner may need more time with fractions, but communicate confidently in English. Another may read beyond age expectations, but need support structuring writing. Mastery replaces broad labels with a more useful question: What can this learner do now, and what are they ready to learn next?

English and Mathematics are separately selectable programmes. Families can choose one or both, subject to timetable and availability.

Who Mastery is for

Mastery is designed for learners aged 6–13.

It can support learners who need to strengthen foundations, revisit a difficult skill, deepen understanding or move into greater challenge. It is open to 21K School learners and learners outside 21K.

Mastery is not a promise of grade acceleration and is not a replacement for school. It is a skills-first pathway that complements the learner’s wider education.

Age bands and ability tiers

Mastery combines developmentally appropriate peer groups with skills-first placement.

Elementary serves ages 6–8, Intermediate serves ages 9–11 and Advanced serves ages 12–13.

Within each age band, learners are placed in Explorer, Navigator or Pioneer, according to diagnostic evidence in the selected subject.

Explorer

Explorer focuses on establishing or repairing essential foundations.

  • Elementary · Ages 6–8
  • Intermediate · Ages 9–11
  • Advanced · Ages 12–13

Navigator

Navigator connects skills and applies them with growing independence.

  • Elementary · Ages 6–8
  • Intermediate · Ages 9–11
  • Advanced · Ages 12–13

Pioneer

Pioneer works with greater complexity, analysis and transfer.

  • Elementary · Ages 6–8
  • Intermediate · Ages 9–11
  • Advanced · Ages 12–13

These are learning tiers—not labels of a learner’s overall ability—and a learner’s profile may differ across English and Mathematics.

Live cohorts are planned for 24–26 learners. Each selected subject includes two 40-minute classes per week across the ten-month programme. Grouping can be reviewed as evidence develops, so a learner may consolidate a skill or move into greater challenge without waiting for a school-grade change.

The Mastery journey

Every learner begins with a structured starting-point process.

  1. 1

    Register for the selected subject.

  2. 2

Complete the diagnostic after registration and before placement.

  3. 3

Receive a recommended starting level based on demonstrated skills.

  4. 4

Join live sessions with AI-assisted personalised practice and facilitator guidance.

  5. 5

Progress as understanding is demonstrated through practice and formative assessment.

The diagnostic is low-pressure and not pass/fail. It supports placement and learning priorities.

Technology with human guidance

AI supports personalisation; facilitators remain responsible for learning relationships and judgement.

AI-assisted practice can respond to learner performance, while adaptive progression helps direct attention towards the next appropriate skill. Facilitators explain, question, observe, give feedback and help learners connect ideas.

What learners build

Mastery develops subject knowledge and transferable learning habits.

In English, learners may build comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, writing, speaking, analysis and creative expression. In Mathematics, they may develop number sense, operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, measurement, geometry, patterns, algebraic thinking, data handling, problem-solving and reasoning.

Across both subjects, learners practise clear thinking, communication, persistence, reflection and independent learning.

Questions parents ask

What families need to know before choosing Mastery.

Does Mastery follow my child’s school grade?

Age and grade provide context, but placement is driven by current subject skills and readiness.

Is the diagnostic an entrance examination?

No. It is a low-pressure placement tool completed after registration and before classes begin.

Can my child take English and Mathematics separately?

Yes. Each is independently selectable, subject to timetable and availability.

Does Mastery guarantee higher grades?

No. It develops skills, understanding and learning confidence; school results depend on many factors.

Can non-21K learners join?

Yes. Mastery is open to eligible learners from any schooling background.
