Safety, Security and Hygiene at 21K School, Puducherry
Clear safeguards, responsible supervision and a culture where children can speak up

Safety is a system and a shared culture
A safe school is built through people, processes, physical safeguards and everyday habits. At 21K School, Puducherry, safety planning covers child protection, staff readiness, access control, campus security, emergency response, hygiene and responsible technology use.
The school plans a formal child-protection framework with a designated safeguarding lead, trained staff, and defined reporting and escalation protocols. Learners will be encouraged to identify trusted adults, understand personal boundaries in age-appropriate ways and report concerns without fear of being dismissed.
Child protection and responsible staffing
The school will operate in accordance with applicable POCSO and POSH requirements. Background and police verification are planned for staff before joining. Training and clear professional boundaries will help employees recognise concerns, respond appropriately and avoid informal handling of safeguarding matters.
Concerns will be documented and escalated according to their nature and the school’s protocols. Confidentiality will be respected, but it cannot be promised where information must be shared with authorised people or agencies to protect a child or comply with law.
Secure access and campus oversight
Controlled visitor access is planned for the campus. Visitors will be expected to follow identification, entry, movement and exit procedures. The campus plans 24/7 security, including female security personnel during school hours.
CCTV is planned in classrooms, entrances and appropriate common areas. Access to recordings will be restricted to authorised personnel and managed under defined privacy and retention protocols. CCTV is a supporting safeguard, not a substitute for active supervision, and routine live viewing by parents is not planned.
Clean, healthy everyday environments
Housekeeping and hygiene will be professionally managed. Cleaning routines will cover classrooms, shared spaces, washrooms and frequently touched areas, supported by waste-management and maintenance processes. Learners will be guided in age-appropriate habits such as hand hygiene, responsible use of facilities and reporting spills or hazards.
The campus infirmary and full-time qualified nurse form part of the response system for illness or injury. A local hospital tie-up is planned for emergencies, with family communication and escalation handled through defined procedures.
Digital safety
Cybersecurity controls, filtered access and age-appropriate digital citizenship are planned to support responsible technology use. Learners will be taught to protect personal information, use digital tools respectfully, question unsafe content and seek help when something online causes concern.
